• The Smart Buildings Program Specialist serves as the regional program expert for the Smart and Sustainable Buildings (SSB) Program, acting as the primary liaison with Central Office program counterparts. This role involves overseeing the implementation of new building technologies, ensuring compliance with national program goals, and monitoring energy usage to meet sustainability objectives.
• Responsibilities
  Oversee the implementation of new building technologies, including Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  Review new construction plans and project specifications to ensure compliance with national SSB policy and IT requirements.
  Collaborate with regional project leads and IT Specialists to ensure adherence to agency-wide SSB policies and performance measures.
  Monitor monthly region-wide and individual building energy usage to ensure reduction goals are met.

• Specialist ensures integrity of systems by applying standard BAS operating procedures and proactive maintenance of facility BAS systems. As problems are identified, the incumbent troubleshoots to determine causes and collaborates with others to correct discrepancies
• Collaborates with and assists PBS and regional energy and utility experts. Analyzes problems and determines solutions for regional BAS components. Recommends equipment or operating changes as necessary to improve building efficiency and reduce operating costs
• Planned, organized, and reviewed a variety of Smart & Sustainable Buildings (SSB) Projects. Provide design review, comments, and make recommendations involving riser diagrams, sequence of operations, and mechanical drawings specifically dealing with Smart Building systems.
• Manage new building technologies being implemented in GSA Region 7 federal buildings. This includes the modernization of existing BAS Systems, via reprogramming, and new construction projects.
• Provided BAS Support to local building staff for a multi-state geographical area with 30+ federal buildings. Thus improving the effectiveness and efficiency of building operations

Projects/Achievements

• BSN Upgrade Project - Installed 15+ new BSN switches in multiple R7 Buildings. Setup & Configured 30+ BSN Laptops
• UESC/ESPC Projects - Developed IGE’s & PWS/SOW’s for 20+ buildings in R7 to modernize BAS systems in compliance with national program goals & directives
• Metering Projects - Developed advanced BAS programming and graphics for energy usage monitoring. This includes graphics pages for Meters and BAS schedules for each federal building.
• GSALink Superuser - Worked monthly with O&M personnel, & GSALink SBSC Team to triage sparks and reduce the Total Estimated Cost Impacts (TECI) to various buildings

• Provide Controls or Special Systems database, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as provided by the Design Specialist, project specifications, or other applicable sources
• Conduct start-up and commissioning including point-to-point checkout on projects. Verify correct alarm, annunciation, and other actions by equipment, devices, and panels of Special Systems and Controls projects
• Provide input to others on the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems
• Provide service support on existing systems ensuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facilities building engineers
• Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals
• Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations

Work Center Supervisor/Program Manager

• Developed and supervised the USS HAWAII's first Damage Control Maintenance program, maintaining ship-wide damage control equipment to the highest state of readiness.
• Supervised and successfully lead an Auxiliary Division of 15 naval personnel responsible for all mechanical maintenance onboard a submarine with the exception of weapons and nuclear-powered systems.
• Liaised with shipyards, contractors, and submarine personnel to coordinate time critical maintenance events, process work control packages, and review safety to ensure no damage or injury to equipment or personnel.

Auxiliary Machinery Technician/Operator

• Maintained, operated, and repaired submarine auxiliary systems; including, hydraulics, steering systems, compressed air, HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, diesel engines, atmosphere control equipment and various seawater and freshwater systems.
• Ensured strict adherence to applicable preventative maintenance schedules to maintain equipment in optimal operating condition.
• Inspected for proper application of quality assurance work practices by personnel performing maintenance which, if done incorrectly, could result in total loss of the ship.
