With 28 years of experience at Peoria Public Schools, I've excelled in multiple instructional positions such as a Science, Social Studies, Physical Education teacher, as well as being the schools Interventionist for two years and then Instructional Coach for another two years. It is important to build relationships with students to learn what motivates each of them. Building relationships is the key to achieve success as an educator and try to provide a variety of learning options for students to help them have individual success both in the classroom and non-classroom settings. I have maintained strong community ties, and hold students to high expectations both in and out of the classroom setting. When I was an Instructional Coach, I worked directly with the staff to help teachers increase their knowledge and teaching practices to help increase student achievement. The same principles of treating each staff member individually and building relationships with them, increases the opportunity for them to grow and feel successful in helping students have academic success.
