- I am solely responsible for the integrity and proper functioning of all storage tanks located at our facility. My on shift duties include the gauging and maintaining of correct products, product levels, temperatures, pressures, piping, and the continuous product flow of storage tanks throughout the Plant. This includes checking product side gauges, pressure gauges, temperature gauges that are located on the ground as well as tape gauging on top of the storage tanks.
- Overseeing the blending for a multitude of the many various combinations of products that pertains to our customers specifications. These are mathematical blends that require exact percentages of products to be mixed together in very large quantities. I am responsible for combining thousands of gallons of finished product by means of formulating and calculating by percentage, depending on the blend.
- Overseeing the pipelining of multiple products such as Hydrocarbons, Conosol and Natural Gas into and out of the required storage tanks at multiple chemical plant locations.
- Inspecting and maintaining that the storage tanks, valves, transfer pumps, piping and PRV's are all operating safely. This is done daily by visual as well as an audible inspection.
- Issuing work permit for our internal company departments as well as outside contractors for all maintenance performed on equipment that is delegated for the storage tank farm. These include safe-work, motorized equipment, line break, hot-work, confined space and lockout/tagout permits.
- Being on time and staying late, if necessary to complete a task that is finishing during the shift relief. We work the DuPont schedule on twelve hour shifts, all year long.
- Mastering the process of working efficiently and safely everyday and always trying to improve myself and my work routines.
- Prior to being a Blender/Outside Operator in Operations, I also served roles as a Railcar/Truck Loader and as a Site Shift Leader in Product Movement/Operations.
- I have six years of continuous experience in this department as well as many advancements. I am proud to say that I have never had any disciplinary action for my duration of my employment with this company.
