Along with the Unit Process Supervisor, review and approve operations turnaround preparation plans. Drive operations related turnaround work processes and best practices. Become an operations turnaround expert, knowledgeable of company and industry best practices, networking with other P66 sites, and to look for and share best practices across all units


  • Work with Operations Turnaround Coordinators and safety representatives to produce robust turnaround safety plans and Safe Work Execution Plans (SWEPs). Audits safety processes during turnarounds
  • Supervises Operations Turnaround Coordinators (OTC’s) while they are assigned to turnaround preparation. Develops consistent roles for Operations Turnaround positions. Develops WGLL documents for these roles. Provides training and mentorship for people filling these roles.
  • Understanding cost-effective and efficient equipment preparation strategies and methods. Ensures all units have robust plans to meet equipment preparation targets and approves these plans along with the Process Supervisor. Looks for opportunities to share best practices across the site. Manages cross refinery conflicts such as Environmental limitations, utility usesage that could extend preparation time.
  • High level understanding of all work scopes and critical paths. Assists with risk ranking of work lists and helps ensure consistency between units.
  • Work with Process Supervisors and Superintendents to develop effective operations staffing plans both for planning phase and during execution
  • Work with Operations Coordinators to develop shutdown and startup schedules and approves these schedules along with the Process Supervisor. Understands benchmarking durations for each unit. Ensures these schedules are integrated into the overall mechanical schedule. Ensures each team tracks progress against schedule during execution. Defines and integrates shutdown and startup schedule to each scope item by process system (Reactions, Fractionation, steam, etc.)
  • Identify policy deviation required during TA in planning phase and track closure of needed policy changes or deviation requests prior to oil out.
  • Track operations turnaround milestones for timeliness and quality

Overseen all Salaried and union employee personnel, maintain budget, implement daily feed plans, plan daily maintenance work, write/modify procedures. Help train operation on policies and procedures. Ensure that all work is planned and completed safely. Completed/planned Multiple outages/turnarounds safely and on time, Keep all DOT qualifications up to date. Have been process supervisor in 4 areas in both Carson and Wilmington Phillips 66 refineries. Those Areas are multiple Hydrotreating Jobs, Carson Bulk operations, and Carson Distillation and Sulfur Recovery Unit. Back filled for area Superintendent and other process supervisors.
