Veterans Service Officer

Logan County Veterans Commission
121 S Opera St, Bellefontaine, OH 4331
08.2018 - 12.2024
  • As a Veteran Service Officer for the last 6 years and 4 months, I have extensive knowledge and experience working with non-profit organizations and VA benefits. I am solution focused and detail-oriented within dynamic, fast paced environments. I possess a comprehensive background in building strong working relationships with internal and external veterans and organizations we work with. I coordinated assistance for veterans, their dependents and beneficiaries with VA compensation and pension claims, supplemental claims and connection to other related Veterans Services to make sure they receive maximum VA benefits possible. As a County Veterans Service Officer, I assisted with VA claims and benefits including educational, housing, medical disability benefits, insurance, death, home/nursing home visits, financial assistance and other benefits based on requirements of the VA and county requirements for Logan County Veterans Service Commission. I made sure that the claims were accurate, and the information submitted was correct. I assisted veterans in obtaining benefits related to vocational rehabilitation, education, insurance, and burial benefits applications such as 1330, 1330m and 40-10007. I assisted the veteran after they receive their benefits to ensure they were informed of any or all major changes and make sure they are receiving the maximum VA benefit they can. I assisted them with DIC, widows pension with housebound or aid and attendance. When claims have received a decision, I contacted the veteran or spouse and made an appointment with them to go over all the entitlements they will receive with the new service connection or spouse benefits. I made sure all incoming and outgoing correspondence is taken care of properly and promptly. I worked with veterans or spouses when they have problems with their Community Care issues. I have called Community Care at their assistance number and worked on problems they may have had. I have helped them with unpaid bills and bills in collection.
