  • My duties included basic electrical repair and troubleshooting and eventually advanced electrical troubleshooting of surface and sub service systems.
  • While on board the USS L.Y. Spear (AS-36), I was assigned to readying fast attack submarines for deployments, repairing submarine ship service generators, repaired submarine RAM (radar absorbing materials), repaired vital CO2 scrubbers and rewound vital ac / dc motors that included SEAL detachable mini subs that were attached to fast attack submarines.
  • I held various levels of clearances including Top Secret to repair and handle submarine systems.
  • Directed safe and secure operations of multi-million dollar systems of government property, resulting in no loss of equipment or negative incidents.
  • Drafted messages and reports to inform leadership of current situations.
  • Trained junior officers to develop officers into future leaders.
  • Trained in firefighting, ship's security and managing potential shipboard catastrophes.
  • I had to operate within a chain of command and NEVER discussed any knowledge or details of secret systems.
