Responsibilities include, operating the prep plant by way of PLC programming and insuring the proper separation and recovery of coal product is being achieved. Also, doing any necessary maintenance on the plant including but not limited to, pump rebuilds, shaker screen rebuild/replacement, changing pipe, relining chutes, making necessary repairs to cyclones.
I also take care of taking inventory and ordering necessary parts from multiple vendors. All while making onshift exams throughout the plant.
Responsibilities included but was not limited to managing a crew of up to 20 people, insuring jobs are being performed in a safe and timely manner according to priority. Also making checks on belts (Ranging in sizes from 36" to 72"), shaker screens, centrifuges, vacuum filters, froth cells, screen bowls, pumps (varying in sizes from 4x3 to 14x12) and also monitoring a thickener to insure we are achieving the proper settling rate for the slurry. Making checks throughout our thermal dryer insuring the coal is being properly dried. It was also my responsibility to make methane checks at least once a shift in my assigned areas and see that greasing and housekeeping are being reasonably performed. During down time I also oversee maintenance work that is required through out the prep plant.

Operated the prep plant by way of plc programming. I also performed the tipple attendant duties making frequent checks throughout the plant checking for the proper separation of coal and slate, making sure there were no chute plugs, pipes leaking, and also checking the flow rate of chemicals required for the froth cells. Also I was responsible for handing out job assignments during downtime and making decisions concerning the plant on the evening shift.
Operation of the fine coal portion of the plant which ranged in sizes from 1/2"x0" and the thermal dryer portions of the plant by way of a man/machine interface, making hourly checks of the fine coal side of the plant and performing maintenance during down time.
Making checks through out the plant which included checks on cyclones, shaker screens, pumps, conveyor belts, spiral classifiers, and monitoring magnetite readings insuring the proper quality of coal was being produced.
Insuring that all car doors were closed and that all cars were clean of any trash/debris prior to loading.
Responsible for loading railroad car and coal trucks, also separating different types of coal, pushing stockpiles, and feeding the plant whenever necessary.
Filling in positions when and where ever needed which included all mobile equipment, fine coal plant operator, tipple attendant, thermal dryer attendant, truck dump operator, coarse coal plant operator, car trimmer, car dropper, and mechanic/welder. When filling in wasn't necessary I would spend time doing any necessary clean up, greasing, and making up pipe/parts preparing for down time.
Making all necessary repairs to the prep plant such as pipe fitting, fabricating and repairing chutes, belt structure, making repairs to shaker screens and rebuilding pumps.
Operating the coarse coal side of the plant (4"x1/2") insuring the separation of slate and coal by way of a vessel with a chain drag conveyor and insuring the proper separation of coarse coal and fine coal.
Making constant checks through out the dryer insuring the coal was being properly dried and constantly moving and monitoring dryer pressures.
Insuring the proper loading of railroad cars and treating with freeze proof/side release in colder temps.
Proper sampling of various stockpiles and sampling production runs in the prep plant, also taking all necessary samples of raw coal and car topping railroad cars once loaded.
The weighing and sampling of coal trucks, sampling done by way of auger.
