Use of blue prints to figure out the right support to install. Knowledge of weld maps to the specification and size of the welds. And which process i could use.

Welding with Tungsten inert gas welding (TIG)

Gas metal arc welding (MIG)

Shielded metal arc welding(stick)

I was able to weld anywhere from 18 gauge (1.024mm) to 7 gauge (3.7mm) sheet metal stainless and galvanized.

I could use all processes for structural carbon and tig and mig for structural stainless.

Other tasks involved would be cutting and handling the metal.

taking precise measurements to insure proper fitting of the sheet metal or supports that i welded. Most supports were anywhere from 1/8 inch (3.1750 to 1/2 inch (12.7mm) thick, with 1/8 inch ( to 3/4 inch(19.05mm) welds.

I also was qualified in bull rigging. This involved moving various size duct and supports into areas that were not easy to access in the building. With various hoisting techniques using chain hoist, chain falls, and duct jacks. Some supports weighed up to 1 ton(1,000kg). Having to navigate them safely to the proper location while not damaging highly sensitive equipment.

I helped for several months as a construction foreman.

helping the workers I was in charge of, understand and build according to the blueprints. Getting the right material and proper paperwork for the workers.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Machine setup and operation: Study blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to plan the machining process.
Set up and calibrate machines for tasks such as milling, drilling, grinding, and turning.
Load raw materials and secure them for machining.
Enter or adjust program instructions, often using G-code, to control machine operations.
  • Production monitoring and quality control: Supervise the machine while it runs, making adjustments to speeds, tool settings, and feed rates as needed to maintain part quality.
Use precision measuring tools like calipers and micrometers to inspect finished parts and ensure they meet exact specifications and tolerances.
Inspect machinery before and after each shift, and perform test runs to ensure proper function.
