Camera Assistant

The most important aspect of the job is to control the cameras lens focus ring and "keep the shot in focus". This is done with precise measurements and preparation before the actor/ actress arrives. You are working in direct conjunction with the Camera Operator. Other duties include:

  • Operational excellence in the specific camera for efficient troubleshooting
  • Changing camera lenses and calibrating prior to each new shot
  • Staffing the department and all appropriate paperwork
  • Collecting shot information from the script supervisor and generating camera report sheets which includes information like lab instructions, lens type, focal length, T stop and stock details.
  • Establishing relationships and marking the actors positions for continuity and operating the clapperboard.
  • Passing all instructions the Director of Photography to the Camera House, Lab and Post House
