The senior mechanic in charge of inspections and overhauls on various natural gas compressors and engines. And also, various petrochemical compressors. Maintains measurements and readings found on units, as well as the final readings, using a variety of micrometers. Use and knowledge of schematics and drawings in order to troubleshoot and/or order parts. Realignment of electrical motors to flywheel shivs. In charge of making adjustments of parts and clearances, and/or installing new parts, and maintaining desired clearances. Extended knowledge of honing equipment for cylinder bores to reach the desired roundness for piston rings. Knowledge of installing bushings and bearings on crankshaft mains, compressor rods, power piston rods, wrist pins, oil pumps, and various rotating and reciprocating equipment. In charge of rigging heat exchangers, power cylinders, compressor cylinders, suction and discharge bottles, compressor pistons, power pistons, connecting rods, crossheads, crosshead shoes, and crankshafts for removal and installation. Knowledge to repair and troubleshoot hydraulics and pumps. Use of portapowers and Hytorcs to assist in the removal and installation of parts on units. Knowledge of torque patterns and torquing tools, both manual and hydraulic. In charge of using pneumatic drills and electric magnetic base drill presses to extract bolts, repair bolt holes, and install keenserts. In charge of using a seat cutter to repair valve seats on units if and when needed. Also, knowledge of boring bars to rebore liners or fly-cut liners out for new installation with liquid nitrogen, as well as using liquid nitrogen to install bushings when needed. Knowledge to bend tubing to repair existing tubing or to install new tubing in small quantities and runs.
