  • Performed routine data entry or document management.
  • Coordinate with Animal Care Compliance and Assurance Staff and USDA Office of General Counsel to ensure applicant reviews are completed in a timely and accurate manner, and current license holders are notified of enforcement action
  • Developed and implemented a tracking database for all applicants that submitted an application requiring further legal review, ensuring all parties reviewing an application had access to the same information in a central location and could track its progress. The database resulted in improved transparency with the customer, decreased the average time applications took to review and increased compliance with the law by ensuring all applicants with potential non-compliances were reviewed before a license was issued
  • Notified over 150 current Animal Welfare Act license holders of enforcement action my department was taking due to non-compliance with the Animal Welfare Act. I ensured all license holders received notification in a timely manner and were made aware of all steps in their enforcement action, resulting in improved compliance and meeting our departments strategic goal of improved compliance with federal law
  • Assisted in the writing and development of SOPS for this role, ensuring that other employees could assist in this role whenever necessary
  • Ensure all USDA registered research facilities submit an annual animal usage report for their facilities. Assist them with customer support and ensure all registrants can access the database to submit a report
  • Assisted in the design and development of an online database for USDA registered research facilities to submit their annual animal usage reports. The creation of this online database has since resulted in increased compliance with the Animal Welfare Act, by giving these facilities a quick, safe and reliable method to submit their usage reports on time
  • Wrote correspondence informing all USDA research facilities of the dates the Annual Report database was open, and how long it would be open. Where instructions for submitting their annual reports could be found as well as contact information for customer support could be found
  • Reviewed over 600 animal usage reports in the past 5 years, checking for accuracy and qualifying exemptions that require further examination. I identified errors and assisted facilities in corrections of their reports, as well as assisted our research facility staff in the review of any exemptions that were submitted
  • Assist the Horse Protection Act Staff with inspections and equipment procurement
  • Used portable gas chromatography-mass spectrometry equipment to conduct spot tests for foreign and illegal substances on horses during horse show inspections. Evidence gathered from these tests were used in enforcement cases for the Horse Protection Act, resulting in increased compliance with the law
  • Organized Horse Protection equipment and created an inventory database of all equipment available and currently assigned to staff. This inventory is used to track all currently held equipment and ensure all staff have the necessary tools to complete their jobs
  • Coordinated shipping for all Horse Protection events. Ensured Horse Protection staff had all the necessary equipment to conduct enforcement actions during horse shows
  • Assist the Animal Care FOIA team with complaint processing, and digital information gathering for use in Freedom of Information Act Requests. Assisted the Animal Care FOIA team with the creation of their complaint SOP. This SOP is used for processing complaints against Animal Welfare Act licensees received from the public and USDA stake holders. In recognition of my work on this SOP I received a certificate of achievement
  • Processed over 1000 complaints against Animal Welfare Act licensees and registrants. Reviewing all complaints received for relevance in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act, ensuring all relevant complaints were investigated
  • Process Animal Welfare Act registration applications. Reviewed and processed over 1500 Animal Welfare Act registration applications, ensuring all applications were correct upon processing and no errors were present on an applicants application before processing

During the course of this inspection we updated several security systems, and discussed funding to update several other systems this facility had to better ensure the safety of staff and equipment at this facility

  • Assisted in the creation of a written copy of the security plan that was developed for the facility, so they could keep it on hand for reference

Developed a comprehensive report, outlining various solutions to the issues described in the report, broke down the various solutions using cost benefit analysis methods

  • Assist hot-shot fire crews with completing their travel itineraries. Assisted the forest service travel management specialist with completing hot-shot crew travel itineraries in a timely manner to ensure their travel pay arrived even while assigned to a fire area
  • All fire crew members received continuous travel pay despite being located in areas that would make it difficult to complete travel information
  • Assist supervisor in making purchase and make usage plans for necessary office and forest equipment. Assisted supervisor in identifying office equipment and forest usage equipment in need, disrepair or missing
  • Inventoried said items and helped purchase new or replacement items if necessary. The purchase of said items drastically increased efficiency of both office and field workers in our national forest
  • Issue timber permits and collect fees as a collection officer, utilizing forest service timber permit software. Obtained collections officer certification to collect fees, and issued timber permits for Forest Service stake holders. Allowing our stake holders to collect fallen or dead timber, overall helping preserve forest health by reducing fire risk
