Assisting in research on cryogen cooling of a fully superconducting motor for aircraft propulsion. Performing experiments to test the effectiveness of the cooling properties of superconducting coils. Haran Research Group.
Co-planned lab testing to determine the thermal resistance of multi-layer insulation (MLI) in rotating machines to test the effectiveness of MLI in an electric airplane motor. Also worked on lab to limit heat radiation from stator to rotor to achieve lowest possible temperature in the rotor for use of superconductor to power motor.
Modeled rotor and ran simulations to predict hoop stress and optimize dimensions.
Created a curriculum and taught a week-long chess course to a group of twenty students at the Catlin Gabel Summer Chess Camp (2018 and 2019). Held individual private chess lessons with amateur chess players.
With other Catlin Gabel chess club members, organized annual (2015-2020) charity chess tournaments at Catlin Gabel and provided free entry to low-income families to promote chess among underprivileged kids. Donated over $2000 of proceeds to charity.
