  • While working at Duke Medical, I began in the Insurance department verifying insurance benefits and working on authorizations to make sure they are approved for patients to receive their medical equipment and submit in a timely manner. Within 7 months I was promoted to the CPAP department. Where I got certified as a respiratory technician and learned to process orders and determine which patients were eligible to receive machines. Learned to setup patients with the CPAP,BIPAP,APAP machines and performed mask fit tests. Gained experience as a technician troubleshooting equipment for patients calling in who are unable to leave their residence, By Calibrating airflow pressure adjustments, adjusting oxygen therapy equipment and resupply of oxygen and CPAP supplies over the phone. On a daily basis most of my time goes into calling patients to coordinate delivery for CPAP setups and setting up in office appointments for patients recently diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Volunteered to help assist all Spanish speaking patients and help other technicians translate technical instruction for the patients equipment that are not able to understand English.
