Accomplishments And Awards


  • Collaborated with the Holocaust Speakers Bureau on curriculum since 2016 to 2024 to bring in traveling exhibits and guest speakers to students at Orange Middle School
  • Organized and facilitated in-person and virtual guest speaker learning experiences for students based on literacy integration and books students read in social studies. These included: Dr. Christine Darden, featured in the book Hidden Figures, Kathleen Burkinshaw, author of The Last Cherry Blossom, and Bonnie Hauser, daughter of Rebecca Hauser, who survived the Auschwitz concentration camp. Students read her mother's memoir, My Simple Life in Greece….Destroyed by the Holocaust. Students also watched a documentary based on Rebecca's life that was produced by The Center for Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Education of North Carolina, 2017 to 2024.
