The Junior Youth Advisory Council (Junior YAC) Community Engagement position provides youth with hands-on experience in community service, leadership, outreach, and civic engagement. Youth participants work alongside staff and community partners to support events, connect residents with resources, and identify ways to positively impact their community.
● Participate in community events, outreach activities, and service projects.
● Assist with planning, organizing, and setting up community events.
● Engage with community members in a respectful and welcoming manner.
● Help distribute food, supplies, educational materials, and community resources.
● Assist with registration, sign-in/sign-out, and other event support duties.
● Learn about community resources and help connect residents and families to available services.
● Participate in volunteer opportunities, neighborhood cleanups, food pantry activities, and youth-focused programs.
● Attend meetings and provide youth perspectives on issues affecting their community.
● Work with community organizations, local agencies, and program staff on community initiatives.
● Develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
