Shameen Wanjiku

My role as a patient care technician involves providing excellent care to a variety of patient populations. The average day working in the hospital includes collaborating with different healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes, obtaining vital signs, and helping patients with their activities of daily living, managing medical equipment, monitoring patients, and reporting changes to the appropriate personnel. I've also been granted the opportunity to mentor other members of the team.

As a CNA in this facility, I work both in the assisted living department and the memory care department. In both departments, an average shift consists of helping residents with activities of daily living, monitoring and reporting any changes, managing difficult situations, and promoting a safe and comfortable environment for my residents. Specifically in the memory care department, I provide specialized support such as redirection and structured assistance. I also had numerous opportunities to be a mentor and train other staff members.
