Hello, my name is Shanel Cabrera. I am a hardworking and motivated college student with a passion for cheerleading, personal fitness, coaching, and promoting overall well-being. I am skilled in building meaningful relationships, maintaining physical fitness, and applying cheerleading techniques. I am dedicated to encouraging and supporting others as they work toward their personal and fitness goals. I look forward to learning from experienced professionals to expand my knowledge and develop my skills while inspiring others to discover the same passion for cheerleading that I have. My goal is to provide individuals with the guidance, resources, and support they need to grow, build confidence, and thrive in all aspects of life.
Personal Health course
In this course, I created weekly workout plans and remained committed to achieving my personal health and fitness goals. I also developed a better understanding of effective strategies for managing stress and pain, which helped me recognize the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between physical and mental well-being.
Perspectives Professional and Career Development course
This course helped me develop important professional skills, including networking and resume development. I also gained access to career counseling, which provided valuable guidance as I explored my future career goals. I appreciated that this course allowed me to create a plan for my future and identify specific steps I can take to achieve my professional goals.
Taking the Plunge: Soft skills for health professions
In this course, I learned about the concept of theory of mind, which involves considering another person's perspective, experiences, and feelings. This taught me to recognize that other people's perspectives can influence their values, behaviors, and needs. I practiced these skills through observation, active listening, and seeking clarification, which helped me understand the importance of building trust and maintaining healthy professional relationships.
Diversity in Education
This course prepared me to work with and educate children while developing my understanding of culturally responsive teaching. I learned that every child has unique learning needs and may require different approaches, resources, or forms of support. I enjoyed this course because it taught me how to approach conflict more effectively and encouraged me to reflect on my own educational experiences, including which teaching methods were effective for me and which were not.
