  • Serves as a Pre-Kindergarten Program Associate (Lead) in the CYS Services Strong Beginnings Pre-K Program. Provides learning experiences in language and literacy, mathematics, social studies, science and discovery, music and movement, technology, citizenship, physical education and creative expression to prepare children to enter school using The Creative Curriculum system.


  • Motivates children to develop "Kindergarten Etiquette" skills, knowledge and behaviors that build a strong foundation for school success such as taking turns, raising hands, walking in a line, etc.


  • Provides supervision, oversight, and accountability for children in compliance with DoD, Army and local policies, guidance, and standards. Maintains staff/child ratio requirements.


  • Evaluates academic and social growth of children and maintains appropriate records. Observes children for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed.


  • Implements an active program of parental involvement and encourages parent communication, observation and participation. Holds parents conferences to discuss children's progress.


  • Creates an effective and inviting environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and learning stations. Conducts Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) and uses results for program improvement.


  • Works with the School Liaison Officer and school officials to ensure a smooth and successful transition to Kindergarten;

Program Assistants to coordinate the before and after

Pre-K Program; and trainers, managers and other members of the Pre-K staff to develop goals, objectives, and lesson plans following the Annual Program Plan.


  • Serves as a member of the CYS Services Garrison Rapid Improvement Team as needed to ensure assigned area is in compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements leading to Do Certification and national accreditation.


  • Makes recommendations for program purchases and budget requirements. Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies. Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities. Serves meals and snacks as required Completes designated training requirements and tracks and records training on own Individual Development Plan (IDP).


  • May be required to perform health related practices as reasonable accommodation for children with disabilities.
