Florida Guardian ad Litem Program

Advocated for the best interests of children in dependency proceedings.
As a program attorney, I was twice awarded employee of the month, once for trial skills and once for legal ethics.
I consistently had one of the largest cases loads in the office.
Managed complex caseloads effectively by prioritizing tasks and keeping organized records of case materials.
I am the first, and only, attorney in the judicial circuit to successfully prosecute a termination of parental rights case for sexual abuse in which the parents were not the offenders.
The sex abuse case was appealed and was Per Curium Affirmed by the Second District Court of Appeals.
I was trusted to mentor and train new attorneys.
Mentored junior attorneys to improve their legal knowledge, skills, and career growth potential.
I was assigned a case that involved complex Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act litigation and was responsible for arguments before a local circuit judge and judges from North Carolina
I was trusted to take a case that involved the children of a senior, foreign representative stationed at MacDill Air force Base
As such, I was responsible for navigating international law, NATO alliances, and communication with a foreign consulate in determining how to meet the children’s needs while in the States and to secure their safe, legal return home to their family overseas.

While studying for the Florida Bar Exam, I worked as a case supervisor on dependency and termination of parental rights cases
I assisted the attorneys from the inception of the case through trial
I was the case supervisor frequently requested to cover the complex cases, sensitive cases, and cases with media attention
Managed sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy, fostering trust and rapport with clients during challenging periods.
In addition to assisting attorneys, I was responsible for managing a team of approximately 35 – 40 volunteer Guardian ad Litem
Established strong working relationships with local agencies and community organizations in order to effectively advocate for clients' needs during planning meetings or reviews.
Some of the specific responsibilities of the position include: attending depositions, witness preparation, drafting legal documents, maintaining legal files, and acting as a liaison between our legal team and case management, community-based organizations, law enforcement, schools, and other dependency stakeholders
Because of my standout work as a case supervisor, I was promoted to a program attorney when I passed the Bar Exam.
