I have studied in both clinical simulations in high school and in a laboratory setting for biology and chemistry through my time in university. I am knowledgeable about biochemistry, organic chemistry, and microbiology, including proper lab safety and aseptic techniques. I am also knowledgeable in developmental biology, cell biology, social psychology, and behavioral psychology. I have written several reports on the biological functions of living organisms, including topics on the cognitive function and development of the brain. I have worked with children between the ages of 6 and 17 through volunteer work and have a good history of building teamwork exercises to help children feel more comfortable opening themselves up to new experiences. I would like the opportunity to expand my knowledge of behavioral psychology, as well as gain experience in a clinical environment. As someone who had to have surgery to remove a benign brain tumor, I desire the opportunity to expose myself to the proper research settings to learn more about my previous condition. I have always been curious about the inner workings of the mind and want to use this knowledge to aid in the effort of treating and raising awareness of issues of mental health in recent generations as well as researching the connections to physiological brain disorders.
