  • Established and communicated clear objectives for social science classes based on the Alabama Social Science Course of Study.
  • Developed and implemented lesson plans to meet the Alabama Social Science and Common Core Standards as well as meet students academic needs. Modified lessons and curriculum to accommodate diverse learners using various educations strategies and following Individualized Education Programs and 504 plans.
  • Collaborated with social science teachers in department meetings as well as teachers in other disciplines to identify & adopt successful instructional strategies and create engaging lessons that integrated social science with other subjects.
  • Assisted in the development of the State Civics Test in Lauderdale County. Administered the State Civics Test to seniors. Assisted in the organization and administration of State Testing such as ACT, Work Keys, and the Alabama Graduation Exam.
  • Organized and directed extracurricular activities and field trips that connected social science learning with real-world applications increasing student engagement.
  • To enhance student learning, utilized technology through learning managements systems such as Schoology, Savvas Realize by Pearson and Edgenuity. Created lessons & online testing materials to facilitate remote learning. Used computers, Viewsonic Board, Chromebooks, Clever, Kami, Teacher Hapara, audio-visual aids, and other equipment to supplement presentations.
  • Evaluated student progress and understanding of the social science course material through graded assignments assessments, and exams, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to address learning needs.
  • Completed student progress reports for grades and attendance at the 4 1/2 week period and 9 weeks period. Communicated with parents and students regularly through email and phone conferences to discuss students' progress, and behavior in the classroom making adjustments to instructional strategies where necessary. Encouraged students and parents to access Power School to consistently view current grades and attendance for student progress.
  • Served as an advisor on the Pupil Support Team. Collaborated with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and students to identify needs and provide services and supports that will help struggling students be successful in the classroom. Served as the Dyslexia Screener at the secondary level identifying dyslexia tendencies and addressed qualifying students need for services through the PST and 504 programs.
  • Served as a senior sponsor collecting fees for senior events, assisting in planning and organizing senior field trips, Mr. & Miss RHS, Class Day Awards, and graduation. Communicated senior events through the use of email, in-person reminders, and social media.
  • Served as the Senior Summer School Facilitator using the LMS Edgenuity.
  • Participated in and led professional development workshops for faculty, enhancing instructional practices across the department and fostering a collaborative teaching environment. Attended trainings for State testing, Tier II and Tier III instruction as well.
  • Mentored and supported new social science educators providing guidance and resources that facilitated their transition into the teaching profession.
  • Served as a cheer sponsor responsible for fundraising activities and supervising the cheerleaders at sporting events. Also, served as the head boys tennis coach responsible for scheduling practices and matches, as well as training and instructing the players in practice and matches.
