In caring for residents for with a physical impairment I had to consider their limitations and assist resident with the adl's they can't perform and encourage them to do as much as possible because if you don't use it you lose it, as far as behavioral problems go I have had to redirect in such ways as having a conversation. taking a walk, playing a game so that I bring their frustration level down to normal. I help the Nurse in charge as much as possible within my scope of expertise as an NA. Here is my experience for statement 2. 2.) I have worked with many people over the years. I have had frustrated families express their discontent and I communicated my understanding with them and addressed any concerns and offered my assistance to them. If I couldn't help them then I either talked to my supervisor or directed them to the appropriate. person. I'm very social, compassionate and empathetic when it comes to my residents. I have had many urgent situations to deal with in my 22years experience. I react and do whats necessary according the type of situation. I once had to help a nurse with an irate patient who was threatening them. and throwing chairs everywhere. I called security and we all had to work together on the behavioral health unit to get the patient sedated as he would not comply with directions and wasn't safe for anyone or himself. In another instance I had to resend to resident fall. The resident had a deep laceration to her forearm. I called 911 and administered first aid to her wound until emergency personnel arrived to transport her out of the facility.
