Dear Mother-Infant Treatment Program,
I am writing to express my deep interest in the Mother-Infant RN position. Having spent over 35 years in the Greenville medical community, specifically within Maternal-Fetal Medicine and high-risk obstetrics at Prisma, I have a profound respect for the clinical and emotional complexity of the postpartum period.
While my clinical background in MFM has made me an expert in fetal monitoring and high-risk physical care, my current focus is on the "invisible" side of the fourth trimester. I am currently pursuing my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) and have completed my first 16 hours of intensive training. This path is deeply personal for me; as a survivor of postpartum depression, I understand exactly how isolating and "messy" this transition can be.
My goal in joining your Mother-Baby team is to provide more than just medical assessments. I want to be the nurse who looks a struggling mother in the eye and helps her understand that while things feel overwhelming now, she is not alone, and it truly does get better.
I bring a unique combination of veteran clinical judgment and a "lived experience" heart. I am eager to discuss how my history and my passion for perinatal mental health can support the families in your care.
Sincerely,
Shannon Lowe, RN, BSN
