Summary

Trooper Shannon M. Beeler has been with the Washington State Patrol since October 18, 2000. She has been a Commissioned Trooper since March 15, 2002. She is currently assigned as a Trooper in the Human Resources Division as a background investigator. Trooper Beeler became a District 1 detective in 2014 and during that time she assisted in teaching advanced, technical, and reconstruction collision training. During her time as a detective she was familiar with all of the new scene documentation technology and the associated drawing programs and was proficient in all. She has taught the Visual Statement drawing program to collision technical specialists. Trooper Beeler was the subject matter expert for Event Data Recorder downloads as a detective and became an Event Data Recorder analysist for the data provided from Event Data Recorder itself. Trooper Beeler was a member of the Pierce County Critical Response Unit (CRU) and Critical Incident Investigation Team (CIIT) from 2014 -2021. Trooper Beeler has participated in approximately 20 multi-agency investigations in the following counties: Clallam, Kitsap, Mason, Thurston, Lewis, Grays Harbor, and Pierce. Trooper Beeler completed her Drug Recognition Expert certification knowledge exam on January 7, 2004 and was a Certified Drug Recognition Expert until 2020. Trooper Beeler completed her Certified Technical Specialist training May 20, 2005 and recertified multiple times throughout the years until 2023. Trooper Beeler completed Drug Recognition Expert Instructor Training January 27, 2006. She has assisted in DRE School instruction, Academy Trooper Cadet DUI Certifications, SFST Refresher instruction, and SFST classes. She has participated as an instructor in DUI wet labs as well; she was a pre-academy Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert Instructor, and Collision Technical Specialist. Trooper Beeler also completed Collision Reconstruction Training at the Washington State Patrol Academy October 3rd-28th, 2011 and was qualified as a Reconstructionist until 2023. Trooper Beeler is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology of Law and Criminal Deviance.
