Work History

Detail/Finish Foreman

Mckee Utility Contractors

Overseeing the safety of employees:

Ensure they're using the tools safely, trench and shoring safety, ensure their safety around heavy machinery, ensuring the safety of my guys working confined spaces-ventilation, H2S monitors, and making sure they have their PPE on correctly 100% of the time.

I would have to go work area ahead of time to figure out what type of shoring i will be needing for this area. Take the information from the plans to figure out deep ill be, to ensure shoring will be safe.

Knowledge:

Having the knowledge to look at, read, and interpret the details to the applied field applications.

Taking elevations off the prints, figuring instrument height and applying the numbers to the field.

Working off good established benchmarks, control points through out the jobsite.

I can set my own grade stakes off a good benchmark if needed.

Ensuring job site stays presentable to the public and public officials.

Ensuring job is finished, my crew was always the last crew on the job site so we had to ensure everything is squared away for final walkthrough to keep punch list to a minimum.

Training the new guys about the numbers.

I personally feel like if im not training my guys to do my job one day so they will be able to move up in the company then I am failing them as a leader.

Relations:

Meeting with inspectors, PM's, or city employees to discus the progression of the job.

Meeting with and being cordial to homeowners, listening to concerns or complaints and addressing the issue to my superiors to come up with a solution.

Scheduling:

Looking ahead at my week to ensure all material is on-site, correct, and organized.

Looking ahead at the work and making sure my trucking and equipment needs are met.

Excavation:

I was in charge of a mass excavation for the Effluent building in a new sewer treatment plant.

Ensured all benching was correct from top to bottom.

Ensured the safety and coordination of my guys during the excavation.

Ensured we stayed at proper elevation all the way down.

Aggregate:

In charge of ensuring we had aggregate.

Responsible for making sure the aggregate would pass compaction tests. I was working off a 95% modified proctor which is a more stringent compaction test. had all good tests.

Maintenance:

Ensuring proper maintenance of my machinery.

Making sure new guys know what to look for and how to properly lubricate machinery.

Presentation:

We also kept the jobsite presentable and kept the water drainage under control.

We built haul roads for our off road trucks, the whole site held a lot of water when i first got there. Whenever i could i would some of the dirt out of my excavation to build said roads. eventually the whole site would drain after a big rain.

Pipe Superintendent

Crossland Heavy Contractors
04.2022 - 01.2023

Safety:

Ensured all my guys followed the safety protocol with tools, trenching, shoring, and confined space entry work.

Oversaw the construction of a slide rail system for shoring, trench boxes, and manhole boxes.

I would go to the work area ahead of time to figure out what type of shoring would be best. Take the information from off the prints to determine my depth to ensure the type of shoring was going to fit and be safe.

Making sure my guys lift properly and get help or a machine when needed.

Ensuring H2S monitors are up to date on calibration.

We did a lot of confined space entry. So i made sure the confined space safety in and out sheets are being filled out properly. Make sure my guys understand about how important the H2S monitors are and how to use them properly.

Ensuring we had proper ventilation, a small fan and hose, or a pit boss if needed.

Knowledge:

Reading and interpreting the details to apply them to the field.

Ensuring that the small details aren't missed.

Making sure everything is plumb, level, or straight that people see. The devil is in the details.

Taking elevations off the prints and applying them to the field application.

Setting grade stakes for my guys to use. Keep it simple for them.
