• Throughout the observership, I was able to shadow gastroenterologists in various clinical settings, including outpatient clinics, endoscopy suites, and inpatient wards. I observed a wide range of procedures such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, and biopsies, which provided me with a hands-on understanding of the diagnostic tools and techniques used in gastroenterology.
• I had the chance to observe patient consultations, where I witnessed the critical role of communication in building rapport and trust with patients. I learned how gastroenterologists gather detailed patient histories, discuss symptoms, and explain complex medical information in a way that is accessible to patients.
• The observership also exposed me to the multidisciplinary nature of gastroenterology. I observed how gastroenterologists collaborate with radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, and dietitians to provide comprehensive care for patients.
• The observership in gastroenterology was an enriching experience that solidified my interest in the field. It provided me with a comprehensive understanding of gastrointestinal disorders, the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involved, and the importance of patient-centered care..
