As an English instructor for middle school students in Korea,
I played a key role in preparing students for their highly competitive school exams. Since middle school grades significantly impact high school admissions, I ensured that my students had a thorough understanding of the curriculum and exam formats.

Beyond teaching core content, I meticulously reviewed school materials, textbooks, and workbooks to ensure that students did not miss even the smallest details. I customized study plans based on each student’s strengths and weaknesses, providing targeted support to maximize their academic performance. Additionally, I maintained continuous engagement with students, keeping them motivated and focused through structured learning strategies.

One particularly memorable experience was during the first-semester midterm exam in 2024. My students and I had set a goal of scoring above 90, but the results were unexpectedly low, with scores ranging from 60 to 70. After analyzing the test results, we identified that the issue was not intelligence or effort but rather a lack of attention to small but crucial details in the school-provided materials.

Determined to improve, we restructured our approach over the summer break. We focused on precision, discipline, and strategic exam preparation. For the third exam—the second-semester midterms—students and I worked tirelessly, often studying late into the night, exchanging questions and refining our understanding until 4 a.m. just before the test.

The results were transformative—most of my students achieved scores above 90. What stood out the most was the students’ response. The moment they received their scores, they shared the news with me before even telling their parents.

This experience reinforced my belief in the power of persistence, strategic problem-solving, and adaptive learning. I bring this same level of dedication, problem-solving, and commitment to continuous improvement to every challenge I take on.
