Highlights of Equity Opportunities

  • Initiated Access for ALL (A.L.L.) based on a trainer of trainer models, a collaborative effort that developed the leadership team's ability to support teacher planning and delivering high-quality integrated and designated English Language Development (ELD) instruction. Resulted in increased benchmark and test scores across all departments
  • Implementation of El Joven Noble, a comprehensive Indigenous based, youth leadership development program supporting students while focusing on the prevention of substance abuse, teen pregnancy, relationship violence, gang violence, and school failure
  • Established recognition program to celebrate E.L.L. students earning RFEP designation and maintained academic progress for three years
  • W.E.B. (Where Everybody Belongs) Peer Mentoring for incoming 6th graders. Teacher-led transition program trains 8th graders to be W.E.B. leaders; positive role models, motivators, and leaders and guides 6th graders to discover what it takes to be successful in middle school
  • Implemented a school-wide AVID program; 75% of AVID students are from a low socioeconomic status background, and 80% are underrepresented. AVID students outperformed national averages with colleges and career success measures
  • Initiated full inclusion of mathematics for R.S.P. students with the R.S.P. teacher co-teaching with the math teacher. Math scores increased, and the number of students enrolled in summer school intervention decreased
