Work History

Fabricator

  • Designed and fabricated a steel staircase using solid works for the design.
  • Fabricated several charcoal briquette barbeques that employed 55 gallon drums for fire pits.
  • Designed and constructed three metal work benches that included sheet metal drawers.
  • Designed and fabricated a large toolbox that included automotive style four wheel steering.

Machine Diagnosis

Color sorter technician
09.2015
  • Generate list of probable solutions from machine symptoms and customer testimony.
  • Narrow down list with pin point test
  • Communicate problems to parent company tech support using phone, email, text, instant messaging and remote VPN connections
  • Implement best solution and verify results
  • Inventory Management
  • Created basic inventory program using google scripts that performs the following actions
  • Add remove parts from one of two locations function
  • Correct and track all parts quantities during inventory quantity audit
  • Generate restock list for low quantities
  • Generate add remove history list
  • Generates barcode label list for import into Dymo software
  • Travel to remote customer locations
  • Used company vehicles, rental cars, and common commercial passenger airlines to reach locations
  • Booked and rescheduled flights\rental vehicles
  • Arranged and extended hotel reservations
  • Documented and advised customers on installation configurations and the effect of each on machine performance
  • Used and maintained machine SCADA and networking sub systems
  • Used and maintained machine remote access team viewer to VPN diagnostic systems
  • Handled customer concerns regarding these systems and network security (you win some and loose most)
  • Worked with limited resources
  • Air travel and plant conditions limit the selection of tools that are available making improvisation the most important tool
  • Handle communication across three different time zones and live without tech support when the time difference between work location and Italy is large
  • A machines mechanical and/or electronic configuration is often not ideal for the application due to inaccurate customer representation or over aggressive sales tactics. In either case, the following actions must be taken
  • Verify customer accepted contract is achievable
  • When contract goals cannot be achieved provided suggestions and implemented solutions from sales and engineering to achieve highest possible level of customer satisfaction
  • When contract goals are achieved, politely explain to customer what the contract means, and how what they want is outside the contract goals. Often, many of these goals are partially obtainable, or fully obtainable with limited day to day repeatability. When either is the case, modify machine sorting program to achieve as much of the customers non contract goals as possible without hindering those guaranteed in the contract. This process is always a complicated team effort requiring input from just about everyone in sales, service, and engineering
  • Verify that Customer installation is not hindering machine performance
  • These situations usually result in efficiencies that are lower than those guaranteed in the sales contract. In the case of color sorters, product instability from incorrect infeed systems, or contamination from unsortable contaminates are the most common causes.
  • Provide suggestions for infeed and mechanical sorting modification. It is common to suggest installing eliminator rollers before the machine to spread product through the machine evenly, and remove small or thin components like dirt, leaves, and vines.
  • Performed various mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Replace shafts, bearings, gearboxes and motors regularly
  • Replace and reprogram Yakasawa (Omron) VFDs
  • Rebuild assemblies specific to color sorters including automatic viewing glass cleaners, and pneumatic sorting units
