- Investigate and communicate instrument discrepancies and other non-compliance-related issues.
- Monitor equipment performance to ensure proper operation throughout SPD.

- Ensure that sterile supplies and trays are stored properly.

- Test washers, sonic and other decontam equipment.
- Conduct daily rounds to collect processing and distributed instruments or trays throughout facility to maintain required levels.
- Organize and assemble specialty surgical trays and add ordered implants or missing instruments.
- Set proper cycles on steam and sterrad sterilizers depending on required sterilization process.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, proper function and breakage by viewing instruments before assembly.
- Assist in checking sterile supplies to detect outdated materials.
- Assemble and wrap or peel pack trays of instruments for operating rooms, hospital wide departments and clinics.
- Check expiration dates of all biological packs and sterrad cartridges used in the sterilization process and discard any expired products.
- Thoroughly clean and inspect instruments in decontam prior to putting through the wash cycle.
- Collaborate with other members of the Sterile Processing department, Orderlies and OR staff to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Operate steam and Sterrad autoclaves according to department protocols.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures relating to infection control practices.
- Maintain sterilization logs to document all items that have been processed, and update missing information as needed.
- Inspect processed instrumentation for damage, or missing external indicators before put away.
- Provide assistance to operating room staff when needed.
