I am seeking a new opportunity that combines my teaching experience with my love of conservation and animals. I have worked hands on with animals for over 12 years providing exceptional care to stranded marine mammals and turtles. After completion of a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Education, I have been able to apply skills to create outreach materials that I use to educate the public about conservation. I also created a summer course as well as elective courses to give students a variety of course opportunities. I am proud to highlight my exceptional organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines while prioritizing items and am able to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
After working with cold stun and stranded sea turtles in Mystic that were rescued on the coast of New England, I wanted to learn more about the nesting. I received a grant through Funds For Teachers and was able to further my education through hands-on experiences on Jekyll Island, GA. I was able to learn about the nesting and hatching through the ride along opportunities. I then took this information and created two courses that I taught at my current job as a 7th grade teacher. I have previously taught conservation courses in the summer but wanted to go into more detail about turtles. We tracked turtle nests, learned about the species and conservation efforts. With the help of my students, I created outreach material in the form of oversized foam posters that can be used at the many outreach events that I attend.
