Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct Therapy: Provide one-on-one, in-person therapy, often implementing individualized treatment plans in home, school, or clinical settings.

• Data Collection: Accurately record behavioral data (frequency, duration, intensity) during sessions to monitor progress.

• Behavior Intervention: Implement proactive and reactive strategies from a BIP to reduce challenging behaviors and increase positive, functional behaviors.

• Skill Acquisition: Teach functional skills, including communication, play skills, social skills, and daily living activities.

• Collaboration & Reporting: Work under a supervisor (BCBA), provide updates to families, and collaborate with professionals like speech therapy.

Common Daily Tasks

• Using play-based techniques to motivate children while working on goals.

• Using positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate responses.

• Managing, organizing, and cleaning therapy materials.

• Monitored students in classroom, cafeteria, recreational areas, field trips and assemblies to ensure safety and engagement.
• Supported students by implementing plans developed by professional therapists and social workers to promote individual growth.
• Advised students in Special Education Program and assisted with diverse responsibilities to enhance daily learning experiences.
• Teaches life skills courses in person, virtual and hybrid.

• Assisted with daily living skills (toileting, feeding), orientation and mobility, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and reinforced skills and concepts introduced by teacher to support student independence.
• Provided crisis prevention, passive physical management, data collection for functional behavioral analysis (FBA) and/or implementation of a behavior interventional plan (BIP), and data collection on the results of positive behavioral supports.
• Facilitated transitions for students between classrooms, lunch periods, and arrivals and departures to promote routine stability and comfort.
