  • Centre for Immigrant & Community Services (CICS) is an organization that works to empower newcomers to settle and integrate as contributing members of Canadian society through diverse, professional and innovative services.
  • I designed and delivered educational and recreational mentoring sessions for newcomer children and youth in the York Region; helped my mentees overcome their cultural barriers and adapt to their new environment; shared my understanding of Canada’s diverse culture and motivated my mentees to help them step out of their comfort zone and truly be involved in their community.

  • As the President of CCS, I promoted a deeper understanding of Chinese heritage and, thus, passed along traditions. At the same time, I devoted my efforts with our leadership group to revitalize our club activities and boosted club membership from 42 to 100 at the beginning of the year. I started to host weekly meetings with the other moderators to introduce new club activities and answer Chinese cultural-based queries for our schoolmates.

Invitation to Perform at Carnegie Hall NYC

World Stride

  • The Gold Medal winners of the high band competition organized by World Stride, we were the only high school band in Canada that’s been invited to perform in Carnegie Hall in NYC.
  • At the same time, we attended the 20th Annual Provincial Festival hosted by Ontario Band Association and as a result, we won first place in the competition. In addition, we were awarded as the Overall Outstanding Performance Band for our outstanding performance demonstrating excellence in technique, expression and musical passion.
