I started as a receptionist at VEG and slowly worked my way as a hospital assistant because I was starting to show great interest with animal care. As a hospital assistant I would clean, restock, restrain, and help my team however they needed me. I have four dogs myself so being in the back with the nurses helped me learn a lot at VEG. From hospital assistant I became a Veterinary assistant. I was able to triage most cases on my own all from learning from my fellow peers. I learned to draw blood, place IVC, run lab work, discharge patients with medication, set up and break down sx, etc. I'm obviously not as good as my fellow techs who have been in the field for years and actually went to school for this but i make up for it with hard work and my willingness to learn new things everyday.
