To obtain a position as District Safety Coordinator with LKSD to further my professional career by utilizing my leadership experience and problem solving skills.
I am currently Juvenile Justice Officer III at the Bethel Youth Facility Treatment Unit. I am currently one of the lead staff supervising 3 to 5 JJO I/II’s at any given time. I also assist JJO’s in providing care, custody, supervision, and treatment for residents of the Alaska juveniles under court order sentenced to B-1 treatment. To successfully provide proper care for our residents, I and other lead staff providing proper trainings to our JJO’s, so they can efficiently provide proper care of our residents while maintaining good safety and security for residents and staff. I assist in updating all daily, weekly, and monthly records, reports, logs, casework notes, administrative paperwork, fiscal reports, and medical records in an accurate, timely, and professional manner. JJO’s assigned to be me, I have completed their performance evaluations in timely manner. My other duties are facilitating ART {Anger Replacement Training}, TIERS Champion, Transitional Service Officer, WIOA, JOMIS Superuser, TSP-JOMIS rework team, Statewide training board, and Resident treatment team supervisor. I have also filled in as unit supervisor and Super intendent when needed.
In preparation of daytime activities, I assist and monitor residents. I maintain positive relationships with residents and staff, and also have a good rapport with the therapists and the resident's families. My job requires me to transport residents on community outings as well as medical appointments. I provide supervision with the development and implementation of each individual's treatment plan. My residents need assistance with behavior, social skills, housekeeping, hygiene, and other skills necessary to reach their individual level of potential goals and life skills. I complete and update all daily, weekly, and monthly records, reports, logs, casework notes, administrative paperwork, fiscal reports, and medical records in an accurate, timely, and professional manner. I collaborate, cooperate, and coordinate with other agencies, family members, and other service providers. I must perform a monthly evaluation of the resident's progress and behavioral assessments to his treatment team. I also assist residents with an exit plan when they complete their treatment. I lead group sessions such as ART {Anger Replacement Training}. I bring my residents together as a community to discuss positive and negative issues, including discussions on behavior that all residents need to improve upon and their strengths that they contribute to our working community. We are a strength based facility that promotes positive and healthy relationships. A lot of our residents struggle with seeing the positive side of their character and I help them understand and acknowledge their strengths. I also step in as a unit or shift supervisor as needed.
Responsible for the delivery of client care that promotes safety and well-being of all clients in the assigned department. To provide a healthy, safe structured environment; engage clients and families in a therapeutic alliance; perform clinical assessments within their realm; provide therapeutic interventions as directed; function as an active member of the MTC staff.. Ability to be on-call for Psychiatric Technician II’s. Assist with escorting clients within Bethel and outside of Bethel, when needed. Expected to be an active participate in client social, educational and therapeutic activities. Input Clients progress notes and document all clients waking and sleeping hours.
Enforce State and Federal laws and Municipal ordinances; assist other State and Federal agencies, as appropriate. Responsible for coordination of fire protection, fire prevention and organizing volunteers. Responsible to assist with coordination of search and rescue missions by acting as the village-based communication link with the Alaska State Troopers and Coast Guard, as necessary. Provide basic First Aid assistance when other licensed medical professional care is not immediately available, assist Community Health Aide/Representative, as necessary.. I was also DARE officer teaching kids about drugs and alcohol abuse at local school.
