Summary

Diligent and adaptable leader with a deep passion for empowering youth and connecting diverse populations to healthier lifestyles. Committed to creating a culture of support where individuals can thrive, I specialize in providing individualized health and wellness programs that inspire confidence and growth. My work centers on promoting diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence to ensure all people are valued for their unique talents.

Since joining the Stephens Family YMCA, I have successfully generated over $1.5 million in revenue through my programs, with projections to exceed $2 million by the end of the current school year—excluding swim lessons, which will continue into January 2025.

Key program achievements include:

  • 24.6% revenue increase in my summer camp program year-over-year.
  • 10.2% revenue increase in the after-school program over the past three school years.
  • 82% staff retention rate from summer camp to after-school programs over the past three years, with even higher retention once staff return home from school.

I have also played a significant role in our YMCA's annual campaign, where I led my teams to achieve 100% staff giving in Mahomet and 91% staff participation in Aquatics this past year.

In 2023, I took on the challenge of transforming the aquatics program culture. The goal was to establish consistency while delivering exceptional customer service. To achieve this, I implemented a reliable schedule and clear rules for both lifeguards and members. As a result, 70% of member complaints related to pool schedule issues were eliminated, leading to a more enjoyable work environment for lifeguards and fostering positive interactions with members.

Every program I oversee is driven by passion and a commitment to fostering positive experiences. I emphasize a growth mindset and ensure that my team embodies the YMCA's core values. My investment in staff development has been critical to both individual and team success, helping them grow in their current roles and preparing them for future opportunities.

Work History

Maintenance Coordinator

Midwest Animal Hospital
Orland Park, IL
08.2024 - Current

Stay Organized:

  • Create a Preventative Maintenance Schedule: This could include regular checks on equipment, plumbing, HVAC systems, and electrical systems. Scheduling these checks helps you spot potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Track Work Orders and Repairs: Use a simple system (either digital or manual) to keep track of all maintenance tasks. Knowing what’s been done, what’s coming up, and what’s urgent can help you stay on top of things.

Prioritize Tasks:

  • Urgent vs. Routine Repairs: Make sure you prioritize based on urgency and importance. For example, electrical or plumbing issues that could disrupt patient care should be handled immediately, while less critical repairs can be scheduled for later.
  • Budget and Time Management: When hiring external contractors for more complicated jobs, get quotes from multiple vendors to ensure you're getting a fair price. Negotiate payment terms or look for long-term contracts with reliable vendors to reduce costs.

Develop Strong Vendor Relationships:

  • Have a Trusted Network: Cultivate relationships with trusted professionals—electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, etc. You’ll know who to call when an issue arises and can rely on their expertise to get the job done quickly.
  • Get Quotes and Compare: Before hiring contractors, always compare quotes and ensure that the vendors are licensed and insured. This protects both your budget and the hospital’s long-term safety.

Involve the Team:

  • Collaborate with Hospital Staff: Keep the team informed about any major or ongoing maintenance projects. This will ensure that everyone knows what to expect and can adjust their workflow accordingly.
  • Address Employee Concerns: If staff notice something that needs fixing, encourage them to report it early. Small issues can often be resolved before they escalate.

Technology Integration:

  • Inventory Management: Keeping an inventory of necessary tools and materials for common repairs can help you address issues quickly. Implementing a stock system helps to keep costs down by not over-purchasing supplies.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure Code Compliance: Make sure that all repairs and upgrades comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and health standards, especially since the hospital deals with animals and people. Regularly review compliance requirements to avoid any violations.
  • Workplace Safety: Always keep safety in mind when tackling repairs. Whether it’s handling hazardous materials or ensuring proper signage, your efforts will ensure a safer environment for staff and animals.
  • Performed preventive maintenance tasks and checked facilities and grounds for issues needing attention.
  • Ensured that safety regulations were followed at all times during maintenance operations.
  • Completed repairs and lighting work while being mindful of electrical wiring.
  • Advised management on the purchase of new equipment based on operational needs and budget constraints.
  • Coordinated with external vendors for repair services when necessary.
  • Repaired and maintained permanent structures and fencing regularly to improve building presentation and safety.
  • Monitored inventory levels of spare parts and supplies, ordering additional items as needed.
