• Direct field personnel in emergency response to electric transmission grid and electric distribution outages with the authority and responsibility to implement emergency response.
• Log all planned and unplanned transmission, substation and distribution events in the E-log and ERCOT Outage Scheduler.
• Make notifications as required for all unplanned events that affect the Electric Grid.
• Oversee Black Start restoration activities between System Operations, Black Start Generation Resource unit, Transmission and Distribution department field personnel and ERCOT to restore service in the event of a local area or ERCOT region wide blackout.
• Write/check/issue switching orders for transmission, substation and distribution facilities consistent with the GP&L safety handbook and industry standards to ensure safety of field personnel, under both normal and emergency conditions while making facilities available for maintenance and construction activities as required.
• Administer the safe operation of field equipment (including both overhead and underground) and substation equipment by switchmen via radio and telephone.
• Coordinate clearance requests to work on equipment with ERCOT, other departments, and interconnecting entities.
• Restore service (through SCADA and dispatch of field personnel) to transmission, substation and distribution facilities to reduce customer outage time and restore system integrity.
• Maintain system and keep records of upgrades and maintenance. Issue Holds and Clearances to line crews.
• Responsible for complying with NERC Reliability Standards and ERCOT, Protocols and Operating Guides.
• Work 12 hour rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Also requires working various shift schedules and being available (on call) for additional duty.
• Maintain working knowledge of desk manuals, policies and procedures. (Black Start Plan, Emergency Operating Plan, Operations Procedures, Safety Handbook, Load Shed Plan, and Emergency Relocation Plan.)

• Processing of transmission service requests using the webTrans and webOASIS tools in a timely manner to ensure optimal reliability of the bulk electric system and intervene manually in the automated processes as necessary or when required
• Coordinate the implementation of schedules on behalf of the SPP Balancing Authority within necessary timing requirements
• Understand the SPP AFC calculations and intervene in the use of the automatically calculated values as necessary
• RTBM case setup and approval. This includes choosing the correct offsets to enter in the positive and negative direction, and approving the case that ensures operation within the appropriate regulation band. These cases will be approved every 5 minutes
• Review generation dispatch, load forecasts, and product clearing in RTBm case
• Interchange schedule control, verification that Market System NSI matches EMS NSI
• Monitor and report problems with the Market System, initiate Market holds as needed
• Assisting market participants with resource plan changes as required.
• Verify unit trips via phone call to Market Participant/Generator Operator and relay information to BC operator for reserve sharing events
