  • Worked in positions of increasing responsibility, reaching my current role of Human Resources Director for division of large international chemical company providing HR and Employee / Labor relations support to 18 locations, 9 direct reports and 5,000+ employees.
  • Provide direct HR support for SVP of Americas Manufacturing.
  • Responsible for all HR strategies inclusive of sr. leader hiring, organizational development, positive employee relations and Labor Relations activity.
  • Function as 1st chair negotiator for the company in all union represented locations (USW, IUOE, IUE-CWA). Bargaining activities all completed on time and under budget

  • All sites are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) consisting of approximately 4,000 members.
  • Activities include 'first chair' contract bargaining, grievance overseeing up to and including arbitrations, partnering with corporate Legal on preparing company responses to NLRB charges, as well as preparing and guiding strategic planning activity for the business in terms of initiatives that involve the hourly workforce.

  • Company Overview: Galveston Bay Refinery (purchased from BP)
  • Responsible for largest BP Oil and Gas Refinery in North America, consisting of approximately 2,300 employees of which 1,300 are represented (United Steel Workers).
  • Additional duties include facilitation of HR processes to the workforce, action planning, compliance activities and partnering with the Business to ensure corporate performance objectives are realized.
  • Direct Supervision of HR employees including Site Payroll and Hourly Scheduling.
  • Responsible for all facets of Labor Relations on site including '1st Chair' Contract bargaining, grievance administration up to and including Arbitration, Site Payroll administration, Salary employee training, compliance with governmental agency mandates, fatigue management, and legal preparation to include Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges and EEOC claims.
  • Responsible for the managing of the sites Operations Scheduling of hourly personnel.
  • Lead bargainer for five (5) successful Collective Bargaining Agreements in my tenure (Refinery, Cogen Facility, AGUS -Guards Union).
  • Developed a joint training program presented by myself and the site's Union leadership to be used to educate both Salary leadership, as well as Union Stewards to ensure consistent understandings and applications of the sites bargained agreements resulting in an 85% reduction in grievance activity at the site.
  • Re-established Management / Union committees in the Operations, Maintenance and Lab areas to expedite problem solving and discuss future progressive developments affecting the refinery.
  • Chair a monthly Labor Partnership meeting consisting of the Plant's Management Leadership team and the site's Union Leadership team. Purpose of this meeting is to keep the joint parties informed of issues and to be initiative-taking in resolving potential problems.
