Supervise a team of investigative reporters for a journalism nonprofit covering Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Work closely with reporters to identify and vet potential stories that focus on holding the powerful accountable; develop a reporting plan for finding sources, documents and other information; edit drafts of stories closely for thoroughness, accuracy and fairness, as well as organization and narrative progression. Coordinate with other news outlets around the region to co-publish our work. Serve on the leadership team for a 12-person operation.

Wrote columns three times a week, primarily focusing on local and regional news. Wrote occasional long-form, deeply reported stories. Produced work that was compellingly written, accurate and fair even when opinionated, and which adhered to Associated Press and newspaper style.

Covered news at six institutions of higher education in our region.

Supervised teams of four to five reporters, assigning them stories, tracking their progress and editing their work for publication. Produced annual reviews, participated in hiring and disciplinary decisions, and engaged with the public in answering criticisms or taking suggestions.

Supervised six reporters and two photographers. Served as second-highest ranking editor in the newsroom. Sat on editorial board and wrote editorials.
