Shawn Montero

I compete as Race Car Driver #24 for Montero Performance Racing, representing the team in competitive karting while developing the skills, discipline, and race experience necessary to progress into higher levels of motorsport. I participate in organized races and training sessions, focusing on improving lap times, racecraft, qualifying performance, consistency, and decision-making under competitive conditions.

I continuously work to improve my driving through practice, performance analysis, and race experience. I focus on braking points, racing lines, corner entry and exit, throttle control, overtaking, defensive driving, traffic management, starts, and maintaining consistent pace throughout a race. I evaluate my results and lap times after sessions to identify weaknesses and areas for improvement.

I have gained experience competing in qualifying sessions and race events, including adapting to different kart performance, track conditions, starting positions, and race situations. I approach each event with the goal of improving both my individual performance and my ability to contribute to MPR’s overall competitive development.

As a driver, I represent the MPR brand on and off the track and maintain a professional approach to competition, preparation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. I work alongside team leadership and crew members while contributing feedback about vehicle performance, handling, race conditions, and driver development.

My current racing experience serves as the foundation for MPR’s long-term driver development program. I am working toward progressing from competitive karting into advanced racing categories, with future goals involving sports cars and professional-level motorsport. Through racing, training, and continuous performance development, I am building the technical, physical, mental, and competitive skills required to pursue a career in motorsports.

I founded and lead Montero Performance Racing (MPR), a developing motorsports organization and semi-professional racing club focused on competitive karting, driver development, team operations, and progression into higher levels of motorsport. As Founder, Team Owner, and Driver #24, I established the team’s vision, structure, competitive direction, and long-term development strategy.

I oversee team operations including driver recruitment, crew organization, race planning, logistics, sponsorship development, branding, media, and administrative systems. I have established roles for drivers, mechanics, engineering, strategy, logistics, and leadership to create a structured organization capable of supporting competitive racing and future growth.

As an active driver, I compete under the #24 entry while developing my racecraft, qualifying performance, consistency, race strategy, technical knowledge, and competitive decision-making through organized karting competition and training. I track my performance and lap-time progression while gaining experience in qualifying, race starts, traffic management, and adapting to different racing conditions.

I lead MPR’s sponsorship and partnership development by creating sponsor packages, media materials, promotional concepts, and team branding designed to attract businesses and organizations. I also manage the team’s public identity through digital platforms, apparel, signage, and promotional materials.

I developed MPR’s long-term driver development pathway, creating a progression from karting toward Spec Miata, Porsche Cup, GT4, Formula 4, GT3, and eventually professional-level motorsport. Through this role, I have gained hands-on experience in motorsports leadership, entrepreneurship, competitive driving, team management, sponsorship, marketing, recruitment, logistics, and organizational development.
