I am the type of person who likes to work and will always come in with the brightest smile no matter what I am going through outside of work. I enjoy working because I am busy through out the day and I get to go to work and make other people smile if they are not having the best day. I show up on time everyday and I don't ever leave when my shift is over, I like to stay to make sure that everyone else is good and to make sure that they don;t need help with anything before I leave for the day. No matter if an angry customer comes in mad or angry and starts yelling at me I know how to keep my calm and handle the situation professionally.
Watermark was a facility that was An Assistant Living, where couples would live or individuals and on the other side of the facility there was memory care. What I would do here was I would help out the residents when they push there call buttons when they needed something or assistants. I would help them with going to the bathroom, getting dressed and ready for bed, getting in the shower or just to even get something that they couldn't reach or if they wanted something out of there refrigerator or cabinet. What I would also do is help the ones who need help down to the diner area so they could eat there meal and associate with the other residents. Other time I would also talk them to the theater room to watch a movie or sports, take them to go play bingo, take them to the activity room to play games or listen to the live band, or even take them down from there room to the front if they were leaving to go to an appointment, going with family, or even just going out for the day.
With the Avion company I would work with one individual the entire week. What I would do is I would go to this ladies house and I would help her out due to her being paralyzed. When I was there my duties were to help her out of bed and to get into her wheel chair and into the bathroom for either shower day or a clean up from the night. When we finished with that I would do her hair, brush her teeth, put lotion on her, and shave her. When I finished with all of that I would take her to the kitchen so she could eat her breakfast. While she was eating I would go and make her bed, clean up the bathroom from the mess I made, fold her laundry and put it away, and throw another load of her laundry in. When I was finished with that I would go to the kitchen pick up her breakfast and I would clean the dishes and put them in the dish washer and clean up her area. Once I was finished with that I would take her to the living room and we would either play games together, watch a movie, listen to music, or we would take a walk outside.
When I was at Walmart I worked in the department of OGP. OGP stands for Online Grocery Pickup. My duties in this department was to grab a TC when I would go into work and sign in. There would be a board that would tell the associates if we were on the floor shopping for the customers, we would be in the back room either waiting for the customer to get to the store and you'd take the order out to them, you would stage which is putting all the customers grocery's together, or you would prep which would be to pull the orders of for the dispensers who then take the orders out to the customers. When my department was don with and there was no more orders I would either go and stock and put grocery's on the correct shelves, I would help out as a cashier, I would work in apparel and fold clothes and put them on the shelves, and I would do go backs which is to go to customer service and put back everything that people returned or didn't want.
The skills that I had as a Caregiver is that I had to be very patience with them residence because they could get mad at you easily or yell at you if you don't do something right I would fix a problem if the residents weren't getting along I would talk to them about it to make sure that they understand that they need to communicate better and to get along and to talk it out I would make sure that the residents were well taken care of and they got what they needed or wanted no matter the circumstances I also made sure when I was there that I was always keeping an eye out for them to make sure that they were in good condition and didn't fall
As a personal shopper at Walmart the skills that I mostly picked up was people skills This was a big skill for me because going into Walmart I was a very shy person and I didn't like to talk much whether it was to other associates or even my managers This has helped me out a lot because I can now talk to people with it being normal, I know how to handle customers who are angry, and I get along very well with the people that I have worked with
