Summary

My name is Shay Tainter. I am 38 years old, born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In 2014 I worked as a server at Red Lobster and as data entry and reception for Century 21 Metro Real Estate. My dad was a broker owner at Century 21, and my plan was to follow in his footsteps. I had just passed the real estate exam when I received an offer to move to Arizona and get involved in the ground level of a large cannabis greenhouse construction project. Dad was very understanding and agreed I should take the opportunity to go someplace new and see what sort of hand life deals me. I spent 2 years in AZ working every phase of the job from start to finish. I cleared weeds, moved land to grade, operated machinery including end loader, gannon tractor, backhoe, pettibone, sheeps foot, and smooth drum roller. Helped move the land to grade and then helped dig footings and tie rebar for cement. Then we built two 10,000 sq foot greenhouses to completion in which time I became one of three crew leads. I met my wife on site (who is also from WI). She received an offer to run a cannabis distribution company in Las Vegas. I was meant to be implanted at Solaris Farms right away, but they were still in construction and I was eager to start learning the cultivation. I spent 8 months driving to Amargosa Valley working at what was then called Acres Farms. I started in trim and was quickly moved into cultivation. In May of 2018 I received a call from Solaris Farms asking to help finish out construction and get plants into the building. I started at Solaris in 2018, spent 8 months helping with construction completion, 2 years as a cultivation agent, and 5 years as facility maintenance manager. In that time I've also over seen IPM, managed the grow in between head growers, and have grown into a bit of a jack of all trades around here. Solaris has been a big part of my life and I believe in the potential of this building and the team we've worked hard to cultivate. I'd love to be a part of making this place incredible.

Lead Foreman

Nexus Greenhouses
Chino Valley, AZ
09.2015 - 09.2017
  • In 2015 I was presented with an opportunity to move down to Arizona when Medical Cannabis first passed and get involved at the ground level building Nexus Greenhouses. The project consisted of a 54-acre plot and 40-acre plot of land. We first started with the 54-acre plot in which we built up the grade eight feet before we could start laying the foundation for the buildings and greenhouses. I had the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the grade, concrete, electrical, and greenhouse. I was trained in how to move the earth to grade, which gave me the experience to learn how to operate a Gannon Tractor, Sheep’s Foot, Backhoe, Smooth Drum Roller, End Loader, Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, and Pettibone. Once the grade was built up, I moved on to working with the concrete crew where we dug footings, tied rebar, and helped pour the concrete. I helped assist the electrical crew with pulling wire, wiring panels, wiring receptacles, along with how to bend and run conduits for our hoop houses and production facility. Lastly, once the material arrived for the Greenhouse, we started flying trusses where I secured them into the structural beams. In a short time, I worked my way into the team Lead Foreman. I understand all parts and aspects of the Greenhouse as I worked hand in hand with our foreman through completion of two Greenhouses.
