Accepted to partake in a weeklong externship at Harvard University-School of Dental Medicine’s Pediatric Dentistry program at Boston Children’s Hospital

• Throughout the week, was able to observe the residents giving care to pediatric patients, many of whom had developmental disorders which gave rise to specific challenges in terms of compliance in giving care
• Many advanced techniques in behavior management, such as papoose board and conscious sedation were used
• Was also allowed to observe in the operating room and watched patients who needed several urgent dental treatments receive the treatment at once under general anesthesia.

• The main focus of this research is to explore potential uses of artificial intelligence in dentistry, with an “AI in Dentistry” Club at TUSDM in the process of being made.

• Supervised by Dr. Aidee Nieto-Herman
• The main project was a systemic literature review titled The Effects and Impact of Climate Change on Oral Health, to be presented on Bates Day 2025.

• Matched to serve a 5-week externship in conjunction with the main curriculum at Tufts
• Will serve the duration of the externship as a dental provider on site
• Provided dental education and various procedures for patients ages 2-90 including exams, operative, periodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and endodontics.

• When hours at Shawnee were cut post-COVID, I worked at many dental offices in the Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana area through Brighter Smiles as a clinical assistant
• Assisted with suctioning, handing tools to the dentist, and taking X-rays.

• Primarily worked in scheduling as well as office management
• Also worked as a translator for any primarily Hindi, Urdu, or Punjabi-speaking patients
• During outreach programs in local K-12 schools, acted as a clinical dental assistant, assisting with exams as well as prophylaxes, taking radiographs, and oral hygiene instruction
• The clinic was run in collaboration with the University of Louisville-School of Dentistry
• During COVID, worked as a triage/intake for the medical side of the clinic.

• Remote Area Medical is an organization through which makeshift clinics are set up in remote areas, where patients are given free dental, medical, and opthomological care as needed
• Mainly assisted with surgical cases throughout the clinics, but also worked with operative cases as well as sterilization
• Participated in Meharry Medical College-School of Dentistry’s Oral Health Day through RAM, providing clinical assistance and delivering oral health education to individuals of all ages from the greater Nashville area.
• Volunteered in clinics in Madisonville, Kentucky; as well as Cookeville (X2), Jellico, and Nashville, Tennessee.

• Volunteered to research at the Institute for 2 weeks out of each summer in high school, dedicated to interventional neurology
• Resulted in 5 separate pieces of literature being published (abstracts + full publications) and attendance to 2 international conferences (additional invitations could not be accepted due to school schedule)
• Paradoxical increase in stroke mortality among Asian Indians in the United States was eventually cited in the book Biopsychosocial Approaches to Understanding Health in South Asian Americans by Marisa J

• Literature not presented at conferences were Safety and Effectiveness of Intravenous Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients on Aspirin and Clopidogrel and Cerebral Ischemic Events In Patients With Therapeutic Warfarin Treatment.
