I have been an EMT/AEMT for approximately three years. I worked for Chatham Emergency Services in Savannah GA from September 2020-January 2022 as an EMT/AEMT. While there I performed 911 first response as well as discharges and interfacility transports. I was made lead of my own truck when I was running ILS as an AEMT. I also ran as a single provider in an SUV working in conjunction with the police and sheriff departments performing blood draws. I ran single med doing higher acuity 911 calls and interfacility transports. Coordinating with several fire departments while working with Chatham, I assisted in the successful medical coverage of several high-profile events such as movie sets, Saint Patrick’s Day festivities, and sporting events. While at Chatham, I also had the great opportunity to train side by side with army flight medics and run calls with some of Chatham’s SWAT medics.
I have been with Bell ambulance now since March of 2022. I was a BLS tech for approximately one year while I got accommodated to my new surroundings and deployed in support of FEMA for Hurricane Ian in October of 2022. In March of 2023 I advanced to AEMT Crew Chief. I have since discovered that I truly enjoy training new EMTs to advance within their field by teaching them important tactics while on calls and writing reports. I have learned that there are several techs that enjoy working with me due to the amount I teach and the low stress environment I provide. I enjoy seeing people come into this field who truly enjoy it and want to advance and learn as I feel I have truly found my calling. I am currently part time with Bell, however, if chosen I am considering going back to an MFD 24-hour full-time shift. Prior to EMS I was working as a pharmacy technician and gained a solid background in pharmacology. I decided early on that I wanted something more and eventually went to school for my EMS professions diploma in hopes to find the career I was searching for.
