I have spent the majority of my life living abroad, primarily in various countries across Africa. I was born in Jamaica but lived there only for a year before relocating to St. Thomas, where my younger sister was born. After approximately a year, my family moved to Aruba, where I began my early education in preschool. Upon completing preschool, we moved to Ghana, where I attended the Lincoln Community School from pre-kindergarten through first grade.
Our next relocation took us to Madagascar, where I continued my education at the American School of Antananarivo through fourth grade. In the middle of fourth grade, we had to evacuate Madagascar due to a coup. During this time, I spent six months at the International School of Manila in the Philippines, while my father remained working in Madagascar. After the situation stabilized, we briefly returned to Madagascar to complete the fourth grade, before moving to Senegal.
I attended the International School of Dakar from fifth grade until the middle of seventh grade. We then moved to Rabat, Morocco, where I enrolled at the Rabat American School, attending from seventh grade through the completion of tenth grade. Finally, my family relocated to Naperville, Illinois, where I finished my high school education at Naperville North High School, from eleventh grade through graduation.
