Hello, my name is Sheila Peterson. In the last 29 years, I have been in many different roles. I started in the group home field. I then went on to be a PCA/HHC field in various client disabilities ranging from quadratic to developmental disabilities. I then worked as a team leader, where my role was to do scheduling to fill in shifts open to doing after-hour call person. I then went and got my CNA license and worked at the ST. Cloud Hospital. I then went on to work at a day program as a job coach. Then came the happiest point I stayed home to raise my adopted daughter. I stayed home with my daughter who has FASD. I also at same time provided respite care to a lady with developmental disabilities for 14 yrs. Then in 2014, when my daughter went into 6th grade, my family and I decided it was a good time for me to return to work. I was then employed by EEI as a job coach at a day program. Then in 2016, we decided to move
to Hutchinson, MN. I then got hired by ATHC as a DSP. I then went from there to the group home setting again as a DSP. I then was a Family Liaison for 3 yrs. Since moving to Hutchinson; I have been very proactive in different conferences to learn more about mental health and advocating and resources for families and individuals who need resources to help them. I have learned a lot through my career and being a parent, and the knowledge I have gained from the mental health and Proof Alliance conferences. I love having the ability to take what I have learned and help other families out. I also plan to continue layaway and learning as things are constantly changing. I in the last 2 years have became a CPFS through the help of this grant. Thank you for your time. Thank You, Sheila Peterson
