To anyone considering hiring Shelby Wayland. Shelby worked directly for me for 2 years as my dispatcher. Dispatch is a leadership role where we work, and is our primary source for up to date production goal accountability in the production operations department. Dispatch is a high intensity work space that has a constant flow of managers and leaders seeking information on our current work load. Shelby is the best dispatcher we have on site and has been for 3 years. Shelby worked hard to gain the knowledge she needed to excel in that position. Shelby started her full time dispatch position working with me and she quickly incorporated her style to the way our crew operated and she was very attentive to my direction and the needs of the mine plan. Shelby is extremely good at looking for ways to set up not only her crew but the oncoming crews as well, to have successful shifts, for example when we were expecting bad weather Shelby would make sure that trucks and equipment were fueled and staged in the most useful area prior to the storm arriving. Shelby also didn't let production goals get in the way of accomplishing the other goals necessary to keep the mine performing at a high standard, this may seem small but many other dispatchers lacked the forethought to see the need to accomplish our project work in order to keep production accessible. Shelby always looked for ways to accomplish both but when she wasn't sure she would immediately call me or another leader to ask which was a higher priority, and then she would fully support that decision. Shelby is also flexible and willing to change with the constant and sometimes abrupt changes to our operating SOPs and mine plans, working with management not against to incorporate these changes and working to help the crews to remember those changes and often enough helping her supervisors remember as well. Shelby Wayland is one of the most professional, and productive people I have ever worked with. If I was going to start a company and was looking for the highest quality staffing I could afford, I would start with Shelby and never look back! She is that good
Matthew W Smoot, Mine foreperson,
To whom it may concern: It is without hesitation that I provide the following recommendations on a good standing team member Shelby Wayland. I have had the personal and professional good fortune to work closely with Shelby for the last year. In my experience, she has proven to be personally accountable for building a strong, viable team member at Newmont. This has been demonstrated on several occasions as she is one of the leading dispatchers for the past few years. Shelby does a great job communicating with her peers and other crew members to help make the crew run more proficient and efficient and to where everyone is doing their part to help keep the tonnage and projects in top priority. Shelby goes above and beyond when it comes to communicating and working with other departments to help figure out situations and help us as a team. Her achievements demonstrates she is results and focused and performance driven but also she makes sure safety is more important than everything. As a strong leader, she has assisted with individual development of the crew members and contributed enormously to the building of effective team. From her own development perspective, she consistently met the business goals and targets and led her team in year after year growth. I have known Shelby for the past few years, and I strongly recommend her to any position, knowing she will bring great value and results to whatever she endeavors.
Derrick Tucker, Mine Operations Supervisor
To Whom it May Concern: I have worked with Shelby Wayland in several capacities over 7+ years. Shelby was a Truck Operator on Crew 4 when I was a Dispatcher and Relief Supervisor. She was our top trainer and "go-to" person to help coach other truck operators. She was always a positive influence and contributor during our pre-shift meetings and throughout the shift. Shelby has been one of the lead Dispatchers for a couple years now. She is always eager to learn more about MineStar and the other systems and tools. She asks for feedback and is constantly looking to improve both her performance as well as her team's. Shelby does not shy away from having challenging conversations or operator coaching opportunities. When a team member does something that can negatively affect the system or crew performance, Additional Informationshe professionally coaches the individual in the needed correction as well as provide additional information on the effects to the system. I have observed her providing suggestions for improvements to her direct supervisors as well as upper management. I frequently use her as a "sounding board" for changes to MineStar or other work, and value her suggestions and comments. Shelby has been recently supporting me by filling in as MineStar Analyst during my absences. She is attentive during training and is eager to apply what she has learned, whether it be creating a new report or improving the Mine Model. When faced with challenges she was not trained for she searches for solutions and seeks support from the team, she does not give up easily! Character and the desire to improve not only herself but her team is what has made Shelby standout at CC&V. I have enjoyed her as teammate and would gladly recommend her for any job.
