  • Graduate Coursework September 1986 - August 1991 Courses at the University of Louisville included a sequence of courses in psychological assessment, a sequence in clinical interventions, and a wide span of clinical and research classes. Advanced seminar topics included psychodynamic/interpersonal psychotherapy, anxiety disorders, projective assessment measures, and clinical hypnosis.   • Clinical Internship July 1993 - June 1994 APA-approved internship completed at the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute. The one-year-long placement involved functioning as primary case coordinator and providing individual psychotherapy for 18 adults on an inpatient research unit, totaling to more than 200 psychotherapy hours. Presenting problems included severe mood, personality, schizophrenic and substance abuse disorders. A second year-long placement involved working with three individual psychotherapy clients on an adolescent unit (totaling approximately 75 therapy hours); work included severe conduct, mood and psychotic disorders. Additional duties on internship included seeing three outpatient clients for approximately 30 psychotherapy hours, performing nine inpatient psychological assessments, leading weekly inpatient community meetings and musical groups with adults and adolescents, and participating in weekly IDT meetings to discuss ongoing cases. Supervision averaged more than three hours per week. Experiences further involved supervising a graduate level extern on individual and group psychotherapy with adolescents, as well as one psychological evaluation.
