  • Work with youthful offenders on probation and parole committed to OYA. Follow OYA policies and Mission plan, keep the community safe, work with courts to ensure youth are meeting their court requirements, works with youth to develop case plans and work towards reformation of youth. Complete court documents and present court, work with DA and defense attorneys and the Judge on a various issue. Work in JJIS, create case plans, meet JJIS policy requirements for entering notes, case plans and contacts. Supervise and monitor youth offenders' behavior; meet with conditionally released or incarcerated youth offenders to discuss and monitor progress; model social skills to offenders in various social situations; track referrals to treatment providers; monitor and document victim restitution payments and served community hours; research placement and education options, employment opportunities, and other supportive services to facilitate youth reformation. Coordinate with other individuals who could be impacted by the process of detaining a youth such as agency staff, security personnel, teachers, police departments, and apartment managers. Collect and interpret urine samples to monitor drug or alcohol consumption.
    Take youth offenders into custody and secure transport. Search the youth’s person, property and residence, inventory and store youth’s property. Plan and execute all aspects of the transports including inspection/exchanging information, search of the vehicle and security items, determination of amount and types of restraint, planning special security precautions, emergency and escape procedures, timing and routing of the trip. Determine accommodation of needs of offenders, possession of all clearances and necessary travel documents, inspection and storage of offender’s personal property including medication, and assure a safe and controlled travel environment. Monitor offender’s behavior and emotional state, in the community and during transports to ensure safety to the youth and safety to the community.

    I work with my local juvenile department staff and partner agencies to serve delinquent youth that require out-of-home placement. I assist with transition of the case to OYA including scheduling initial placement screening interviews, transportation and court appearances.
    Primary caseworker for all OYA youth and Department of Corrections (DOC) inmates in OYA physical
    I assist youth to learn new skills by coaching, teaching, and modeling in a structured format.
    Testifies at court hearings, prepare court documents such as motions to show cause, probable cause statements, multiple court orders varying from court reviews, commitment to Oregon Youth Authority for programs and or facilities, revocation paperwork, and other reports to the court as required for these proceedings.
    Demonstrate diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, with families and youth.

    I have daily contact with youth in custody, in programs, in school and/or families who may exhibit hostile and assaultive behavior.
    Occasionally works irregular hours and may need to respond to emergency situations.
    Frequent driving throughout the state, some during inclement weather and some overnight travel may be required.

    I have experience working in multiple counties within OYA. I have built relationships both professionally and personally with a variety of community partners, courts, programs and services. I feel this would be an asset for this position as we work statewide, and I will be able to pull from these agencies and programs to assist youth and families on my and coworkers' caseloads.
