2020-2021 Teacher of The Year

As Double File Trail's Elementary School Teacher of The Year, I was over joyed with this honor. Children are my passion and I cannot imagine any other career. I would like to think that I am a teacher who finds creative ways to make the material accessible to my students, staying up-to-date with best practices and applying for grants to help enhance instruction, such as the Handwriting Without Tears and Touch Math grants I have received. I have a tremendous respect and admiration for my students and the colleagues I work with. I hope to serve as a role model for students and always have the best interests of students in mind. I gain respect by treating students fairly, setting high expectations and being consistent with discipline. To me, a Teacher of the Year goes beyond interacting with students on an instructional level, but working with students daily to make sure their physical and emotional needs are met, as well.
